Acest standard stabileşte metodele de încercare prin care se determină rezistenţa pieilor la sfâşiere. Încercarea rezistenţei la sfâşiere poate fi executată după necesitate prin următoarele metode: - metoda 1, prin sfâşiere la cusătură; se aplică numai pieilor moi; - metoda 2, prin sfâşiere la cataramă; se aplică pieilor care în practică sunt supuse la astfel de solicitări.
