Standardul specifică cerinţele şi recomandările pentru debitmetrele de gaz ultrasonice (USM-uri) care folosesc timpul de tranzit al semnalelor acustice pentru a măsura debitul gazelor omogene şi unifazice din conducte închise. Se aplică debitmetrelor ultrasonice cu metoda timpului de tranzit, pentru gaz, utilizate pentru tranzacţii comerciale şi de alocare.
