Standardul trateaza limitarea fluctuatiilor de tensiune si a flickerului aplicabile retelelor publice de distributie de joasa tensiune. Prevederile din acest standard sunt aplicabile echipamentelor electrice si electronice care absorb un curent inferior sau egal cu 16A pe faza, destinate sa fie racordate la retelele publice de distributie de joasa tensiune de 50 Hz si având o tensiune între faza si neutru cuprinsa între 220 V si 250 V
