This European Standard defines basic terminology and specifies general design methods, to help designers and manufacturers in achieving safety in the design of machinery for professional and non-professional purposes. It may also be used for other technical products having similar hazards. It is recommended that this standard is incorporated in training courses and manuals to convey basic terminology and general design methods to designers.
